Walk Away
by Rose Ann Jenneman
"Dear Lord" I silently pray, help me get through the night. Comfort me till break of day, please let him be all right.
What have I done wrong? she fears, that makes him want to roam. Pillows damp with salty tears, why doesn't he come home.
Wife and children should be first, before the bars and booze. Heavy heart about to burst, in second place we loose.
Once was love, now turned to hate, waiting for his return. Rambling thoughts of why he's late, fuels flames enough to burn.
Scorched souls can not be healed, by soothing touch or song. Lavish gifts that you did yield, will not excuse the wrong.
Family unit, broken ties, all for a bit of fun. Reasons given, all but lies, shameful acts he has done.
Morning sun has shed new light, of what the future brings. Life style changes not in sight, a lonely church bell rings.
Strength in prayer is all we need, my children gather round. A new pathway God will lead, and keep us safe and sound.
